The Greatness of Barnum's Animals

Here they are.... These delightful little critters are over 100 years old! Officially named "Barnum's Animal Crackers" in 1902, these beauties have never really changed. Here are some facts about Animal Crackers that I bet you didn't know.

• They Were originally .05 cents a box (I got them for a quarter when I was a kid)
• There have been 37 different animals over the years - Today line up of 17 include: Tigers, cougars, camels, Rino's, Kangaroos, Hippo's, Bison, Hyena's, Zebra's, Elephants, Sheep (Lame), Bears, Gorillas, Monkeys, Seals and Giraffes
• There are EXACTLY 22 crackers per box
• More than 40 million boxes are sold each year - that is over 6,000 miles of string

Incidentally McDonald's "Original" Cookies are pretty good too.. but for my money I would rather bite the head off a Tiger than Mayor McCheese!
