My friend Jim Heimbach recently introduced me to a program called BookCAT and it is amazing. BookCAT uses ISBN or LCC (Library of Congress Catalog) numbers to search several databases around the world to populate information about your books into the library. The company called FNProgramvare also has applications for CD's, and Video's that can be reasonably purchased as a package. Check it out

There are plenty of these out there. I am looking to purchase one now. Just google "USB barcode scanner" and you will see tons of them. The cheapest I have seen is around $60. But with over 3,000 volumes to put in - I will definately make the investment.
